This morning just before leaving for school we heard a loud crack of thunder and it felt like the whole house shook. Pictures even fell off the bookshelf in the office. Lightning hit the neighbor's tree and Alyssa saw the bright flash of lightning and watched the tree fall over into the neighbor's yard behind us. If you look close you can see the charred marks on the tree. Pieces of the bark were blown off into our yard hitting our deck and even in our front yard. Quite scary!!

Second day of Spring - I mean "Winter" Break

John had a soccer tournament this weekend. I only got to watch him play on Sunday since Alyssa had a beginning of the season scrimmage on Saturday. So I took Alyssa to hers and then was able to participate in a scrimmage of parents vs kids. John's team won 2 out of their 3 games with John scoring 4 out of the 8 goals. The team they lost to ended up winning the tournament so his team played really well for it being their first games of the season.

What a beautiful day! It was 65 and the sun was shining. The perfect day to get outside so I made sure to get out for an hour walk. So nice compared to the treadmill. Alyssa had her first Girls on the Run after school today so it was great that they had such a nice day.

The game was supposed to start at 8:30 but it was almost 9pm before John's game started! It was a rescheduled game since his team will be competing in a tournament the weekend the original game was scheduled. It was against the top ranked team - John's team is currently #2. They played a good game but lost 5 - 3. Then had to hurry home to get the kids to bed since tomorrow it's picture day.

A picture with Grandma and Grandpa before they left to go back home and Alyssa went to sell girl scout cookies at a booth at Kroger.

After getting home from picking up John's new soccer uniform for the upcoming season, Alyssa spotted three deer in the neighbor's yard. So we watched them for awhile. I got out my camera and decided to get a video, just in time to see the last two jump over the fence.
