Well the follow-up visit to the doctors on Wednesday was kind of a waste of a 20.00 co-pay. Basically told to stop the medicine and breathing treatments and just wait to see if or when it happens next and to take notes to see if anything is similar to try to pinpoint the cause. I did schedule an appointment for flu-shots in October - much to the upset of Alyssa. I told her that she wouldn't have to get any more shots until age 10 - guess I forgot about the flu-shots.
The kids were treated to some ice cream at McDonald's after so I don't think they minded. But it was the longest wait ever for "fast food"....after waiting almost 5 minutes in line Alyssa informed me that she had to go to the bathroom......so getting out of line and back in....added on at least another 5 minutes. Guess it was before 5pm so all of the workers hadn't gotten there yet....but thought after paying for the icecream and still waiting for them to make it was a tad frustrating- was so tempted to just go behind the counter and do it myself!

After arriving at the doctor's office John seemed to be getting worse - having an even harder time breathing and wheezing. After several nebulizer treatments and some medicine he was doing much better. The doctor said she didn't want to scare me but wanted me to realize the seriousness of it all - if his air passages close up all the way - death! Thanks - just what I needed to hear! So at the end of the day after the 25.00 co-pay and 85.00 in RX (Millipred by mouth - and Levalbuterol for the breathing treatments) it ended up being an expensive day. Was told the insurance should cover the cost of the nebulizer - so who knows what that may end up costing. Of course we and most everyone else would pay whatever they had for their child/loved one but just seems kinda pathetic that it's that expensive. We sure pay enough for insurance every month. Healthcare system is messed up - it's the insurance companies running the show when it should be the doctors who know what's best for the patient.
So the past week we have been doing medicine twice daily and the breathing treatments three times a day. John at first was glad to do them - now it's more of a struggle.
So we go back in for a follow-up appointment tomorrow. Possibly to do some allergy tests. So not sure what caused it but pretty sure it's some kind of allergen outdoors.

Well I just got back from picking up John from preschool. He just started crying at music time and coughing/wheezing and said he wanted to go home. (At least it wasn't due to bad behavior!) I was told that he sounded like a few other kids that have asthma so we are headed to the doctor this afternoon. :) Earlier this morning he kept on coughing saying he had to throw up and was doing a little bit of wheezing. He was like that another time when we were on vacation in July.

Was waiting....

I was waiting for some feedback from John's preschool teacher. I was happy that I hadn't heard anything....no news is good news.... Well today when I picked up John his teacher said he had 3 fits and was throwing toys - and that the other kids were surprised by his actions. (When I dropped him off one of the girls in his class said "John's here" like she was happy to see him.) Of course I tried to ask John about it and he wouldn't really say anything. Wonder what I should do - or think of some kind of discipline for him if (or should I say when) it happens again. Well better get going to pick up Alyssa from school. It is 73 and the sun is out so going to have a picnic at the playground. Still need to update everyone on Alyssa's 6th birthday.

Doing Nothin'

So last night John was talking about going to preschool....he says...so Daddy's going to work, Alyssa's going to kindergarten, I'm going to preschool, and Momma's doing nothin'. So my day of nothing has been drop John off at preschool, race to take Alyssa to kindergarten, race back for the orientation for John's preschool and to wait there for him to finish. (Today and tomorrow he's only at preschool for an hour.) Then going to pick Alyssa up from kindergarten. Boy, doing nothin' is so much fun!!! :)
Another HOT day here. Currently our temperature says it's 90 (in the shade). I am oh so praying we don't have another year of SUMMER, WINTER, SUMMER,....seems like we've been missing the fall and spring weather. From A/C to heater isn't much fun - or easy on the wallet! But I shouldn't complain when there's really bad weather elsewhere...flooding, hurricanes,.....
